I have spent a little while today trying to get Wordpress 2.1 working. Turned out to be a major headache and you may have noticed the site was down for a couple of hours. Upgrading Wordpress is not that easy to do BUT anyone with basic competence should be able to do it within 20 minutes.
I really cocked up though, my IT skills are not brilliant so it took me quite a while to work out that you cannot just copy files straight out of a zipped file into a web directory using an FTP client as they do not then create their own folders or go into the right folders. You must first extract the files onto your computer and then upload them. Ahhhhhh- hhaaaaa, wish I’d worked that one out earlier!

oh man, you soundd proper bleak at lunch when you rang. I had a similar shambles when I upgraded to 2.0 and lost everything for a couple of hours before restoring. I think I need to learn what I am actually doing as opposed to blindly following instructions……

I have upgraded my blogs to 2.1 and I’ve been getting a bunch of server errors when people post comments. Is anyone else experiencing the same thing or is it time to reconsider my hosting choice?

Paul, chilibean is the only wp2.1 blog were I get the problem when posting. No clues for you on how to fix it unfortunately, as grayskull says even though I have had a wordpress site for nearly two years I am still a HUGE amateur!

I upgraded myself a couple of days ago, and had no issues… that I am aware of.
I took a chance and not back up… or anything, but should perhaps do it next time.
