England and Scotland, there sure isn’t any love lost between the two. Nothing is funnier than a Scottish sportsman being proclaimed British by the media when he’s winning and Scottish when he’s losing e.g. David Coulthard. Well along comes Andy Murray, the new British tennis hope, that is until he gets beaten, then of course he becomes Scottish again!

The hype around Andy Murray as Britains best tennis player and champion elect at this years Aussie Open has been tremendous and I was just waiting for the day he would be knocked out so we could all laugh along with the good ole BBC. Today he got bundled out in the second round and after calling him British all week, here and here for example, the famous Beeb have gone and done their usual about face, so much so that any reference to him being British does not appear in the entire article!

Shelby Mustang GT-H

Heard about this the other day and got really excited about throwing this beast around LA and Las Vegas. REALLY EXCITED!

Shelby Mustang GT-HForty years ago, Carroll Shelby and The Hertz Corporation came up with an ingenious plan to help get a batch of high-performance, special-edition Shelby Mustangs into the hands of rental customers who also happened to be car enthusiasts. Ford supplied the new Mustangs with V-8 engines and mostly automatic transmissions, Shelby added extra performance and style, and Hertz gave the public access to the kind of unique driving experience that one would normally only find on a racetrack. Today, the story of the Shelby/Hertz “Rent-A-Racer” is legendary and surviving Shelby GT350H Mustangs are among the most sought-after collector cars in the world. To connect the magical past of the original Shelby GT350H with the modern capabilities of the new Ford Mustang, Shelby, Ford and Hertz have again teamed up, and – together with the Ford Racing Performance Group – have given the 2006 Ford Shelby GT-H a very classic, muscular look as well as some true performance credentials.

Just phoned Hertz in the US to book one of these beauties. I am going to be in LA for the first week in May and am planning on driving through to Las Vegas over the weekend of the 5th May for the biggest fight in history, Oscar de la Hoya vs Floyd Mayweather. Can you imagine how wicked that’d be cruising around in a Shelby Mustang GT, can you then also imagine my disappointment when I was told they were already booked out for that weekend! DAMN IT!

Time for an upgrade, its really not that difficult to do and the benefits of Wordpress 2.1 look to be significant. I cannot wait for the new Autosave Post feature as I have lost dozens of posts by inadvertently clicking in the wrong place, Firefox crashing (seems to be doing it a lot lately) or just not being careful enough. There are a few other important improvements, check this out - 10 Things You should Know About WordPress 2.1.
