London is facing a rising crime epidemic and local government seem to be getting their knickers in a knot trying to sort it out. It was all over the news last night and in the papers today, Parking Meter theft is obviously a really big issue.
Can you imagine how nuts Britain would go if they had to read a headline like the one I was presented with this morning when I logged onto my favourite South African news site - R810m lost to heists since 2000 - it really is no wonder SA bank charges are some of the highest in the world.
The violence involved in the Cash-in-Transit heists is appalling and this quote from the article was particularly relevant, although I think it affects a lot more than just the economy:
“It stands to reason that any threat, trauma or losses for the industry will have a direct influence on the economy. The ripple effect goes without saying,” Anton Wiid, the general manager of the Violent Crime Office of the South African Banking Risk Information Centre
