Ok this has managed to get the hackles up a bit! A political “analyst” and freelance “journalist” called Vuyo Mvoko has written an article in the Sunday Times expressing his hatred towards returning South Africans, go check out the the critique here!
Ask yourself this, if this man thinks this way then surely so do a thousand others? Or is he just a solitary idiot! I’m certainly hoping, as a saffa temporarily living abroard, that its the latter.
I have often heard it said before that the black man in South Africa does not want the white man there. Well, tough shit, I do not feel at home anywhere else in the world and so ultimately I WILL be coming HOME! Because Vuyo, I can make a difference. And just like the million or so Aussies who live abroad to enrich both their bank account and their own life experiences I intend to return home to live a better life than I can live abroad. Unfortunately for me though, whereas Aussies return to a stable economy, no crrime and jobs a-plenty, I must return to a country with a huge crime problem, no readily available job market, people like you who don’t want me back and an Aids problem made considerably worse by a government I was unable to vote for!!!!!
Not only will I be bringing money and expertise back to the country, but I shall also be bringing something far greater, the enthusiasm to build and develop our great country into something better than it is today!
Vuyo, you’re a sad excuse for a South African, sometimes people like you dampen my spirits, other times I laugh at you, but I always remind myself that its people like you who will one day make it fail and people like me who will one day make it a success.

Agreed.. Stick to fictional writing Vuyo… We are the prodigal suns (pun) of a brighter South Africa…
We bring a wealth of first world country experience to grow a first world economic potential country into a first world country.. It is our patriotism that brings us back, love of country my friend!!

people like this make me stoked actually, because he is effectively already making up excuses for his own failure. Its a defeatist attitude and it just makes it easier for positive, constructive people to get ahead. He’s seriously scraping the barrel using an industry as an example which we are being led to believe is now actually in a skills shortage. Perhaps his ‘friend’ is parking cars cos he’s a sh1t engineer! Good professionals will always get a job anywhere in the world by simply being better than others in their chosen field. Its not a difficult concept.

After reading this article again, I have chosen my words very carefully and I think he has lost the plot and in some instances the comments on this site are missing his points as well. I am not trying to stir up another of our meteoric arguments Dave, just hear me out. He is not referring to the likes of yourself who are travelling and working abroad for a few/many years before deciding (premeditated or not) to return HOME. He is talking about those who emigrated and have continued to do so because amongst other things they didn’t want to live in a country where they were no longer the “baas”. I am not taking his side. I am merely pointing out that the reference is not to you at all as far as I read it.
Notwithstanding that, he is a complete penis-breath for his comments. Guy you are spot on with your statement as well. If the SA government have asked people to come back it is because they are needed. If his retarded/lazy friend was “given” an engineering degree the same way I guess Toadwart (remember him) became a doctor then they will never be able to fulfil the duties and responsibilities associated with that qualification. Sasol, SAB Miller and the mining sector are not going to give jobs of high importance (incl the safety of lives) to people that they don’t believe can actually do the job, affirmative action or no affirmative action.
I’ll touch on skills transfer as well. You can’t transfer everything. There is a certain degree (pun intended) of knowledge and skills that you have to possess yourself. You can’t find all the answers in a text book and you can’t teach ideas to arrive through brain cells. Thinking on ones feet will never be taught, despite what the army will tell you.
I love the way he is able to write an article and bring both forbidden subjects through, Religion and Politics. The shattering thing is not this bloke’s lack of understanding, open-mindedness or will to exist as a Rainbow Nation, but the fact that he is pissing in his rods at the fact that 90 people, just 90 people have been asked to return to a population of 80 million or whatever Francois Pienaar said. Is he actually sh*tting himself because there is a strong chance that journalists with ability, integrity, and professionalism may just come back home and take away his job? Then maybe we wouldn’t have to put up with this kind of BLATANT RACISM.
