I had to laugh when reading this article about black economic empowerment (BEE) in South Africa. So funny and yet so true:
Now it is not just a few whites at the top, but a handful of new blacks joining them. This is ‘cappuccino’ empowerment — white foam sprinkled with chocolate.

hija David,
So great to catch up, have been out of touch with my computer for a litle while. Saw Nikky while I was in Jhb and she told me she was going to see you !! We have just been in underberg for the weekend with friends of ours, we had a a magic time, the kids all canoed and went down the river on tubes. I will post you some photos. It is just so nice to chill imbetween the hectic merry-go-round of four teens.(can u believe Jem turning 17 in May) he is still doing lots of riding and won his first under 18 race of the season, he was thrilled as he has been putting in some training and obviously its paying off. Sarah has started dancing with Duddley V.Loggenberg , a teacher that Debbie also danced with 20 years ago. She has decided to do ballet as a matric subject, Duncan seems to be delighted that he has eventually reached my height…Jonathan has a few cm to go !!!! They have slotted back into 3rd form at College well and are already looking forward to the end of first term in four weeks time.
Jacky is down in Lions River , I havent managed to see her yet , however hoping to get together with her before she goes back. Take care and will chat again soon. Big hug m

Hi Marvic,
Managed to see Nix on Sunday. It was great to see her and made me realise -yet again- how much I am actually missing being at home. It is strange being away from family and friends and in many ways I feel like I am missing out on a lot! This feeling always hits home strongest when I hear about Jem, Jon, Duncan and Sarah. I feel like I have missed out completely on their high school years, especially sad that I have not been able to go and watch glenwood thrash college! I really have to come back for a visit this year………..
Chat soon.
