Monday Night Fishing

Just a quick update on the fishing front. Myself Eugene and Manus, went fishing again on Sunday but this time with success! Both myself and Manus managed to land a decent sized rainbow trout each whilst I also achieved what in flyfishing terms is considered the ultimate and bagged a beautiful brown trout on dry fly in a stream above the dam. We spent a peaceful day at the dam only interupted by a relaxing sortie down to the local village pub for lunch and a few pints.

So that was sunday, move forward a day to Monday, and a quick conclusion to an early afternoon meeting in Ascot resulted in a little evening trip back to the same dam for a spot of Monday Night Fishing. Yet again I had success and, although it was raining and the fish only succumbed to my fly at about 8pm, I thoroughly enjoyed my evening in the quiet countryside of secluded Surrey. Watch this space for further flyishing tales as this weekend plans are afoot to explore new waters in Hampshire.

Bring on the Treble

This weekends Springbok win over Australia was memorable more for winning an away Tri-nations game than for its nail-biting finale. What a great day we ad watching the rugby at Zulus in Fulham. I don’t normally enjoy doing big rugby games in bars but when it is packed to the rafters with South Africans the atmosphere is scintilating and something not to be missed. I enjoyed our 3rd consecutive win over the Aussies, but I particularly enjoyed gloating with all my Aussie mates.

Habana

This weekend is basically the final. South Africa have won 3 from 3 and a win over the All Blacks in Dunedin would give us a back-to-back Tri-Nations title! But thats not all……..not only would we have then beaten them 3 times in a row, but we will also reclaim the World Number 1 spot!!

My prediction, Springboks to take a solid 7 point victory and retain the Tri-Nations.
