Went to watch the “sequel” to Get Shorty last night. What a brutal disapointment
! The movie has a few funny moments but on the whole it’s as cheesy as a slab of stilton microwaved on high for 10 minutes! Be Cool is no where near as slick as Get Shorty and fails dismally as a quirky cult comedy. The plot has potential, it is of course based on a book by Elmore Leonard, but it is too in your face, too brash and tries to be too main-stream funny. My advice, wait for the DVD.

Dude, I was also destroyed by the poor effort on the sequel. They basically took out all of the funny characters and the good dialogue.

Apparently Elmore Leonard hated the film. When Barry Sonnenfeld did Get Shorty, Leonard told him that the characters say funny things because it was part of their personality so do not cut to the other person to see the reaction, thereby waiting for the audience to laugh. Clearly F Gary Grant missed the point and the movie ended up being cringingly bad!
